Obituary

Lillian Ethel Schweers Shuler. 85. passed away October 12. 2006 in Hondo, TX. Lillian was born July 18, 1921 in Hondo, TX. She graduated from George West High School in 1938 where she was a Varsity Cheerleader. Soon after graduating she married and moved to Harlingen TX and then to San Antonio where she raised her family and started her career as a kindergarten teacher, later as a beautician, and then owner and operator of a Hair Salon. Later she retired and continued to work part time with the Merle Norman franchise at several locations in San Antonio. She and Bill, her husband retired to family ranch in Medina County, where she enjoyed very much her home in the country, Western dancing, gardening, the wildlife, and most of all having her large family get together for cook outs or some of her home cooking. Holidays, Christmas and Thanksgiving were always special around Lillian's house, the turkey and dressing which she enjoyed preparing. She enjoyed having her large family all get together and it was always evident she was very, proud of them, New Years Eve was always a big night with Lillian in charge, she made sure we always had a large Bon Fire, plenty of Chile, Tamales, and Fireworks for the grandkids Lillian was the best Mom anyone could be, unselfishly sharing what spare time she had from work providing a wonderful home life for her six children and also attending numerous of her children's school and college activities. Lillian was a unique person, the many friends and friendships that she kept for years was a testimony to her unselfish and caring personality. She always would take time to visit with her friends, making everyone feel special. Maintaining these friendships was very important to her. All of her children loved her very much, appreciated her always being there for them, and will miss her more than she could imagine. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Lydia Wiemers Schweers, Charles William Schweers and her husband of 51 years, Bill Shuler, all of Hondo Texas. She is survived by her sister Gladys Crawford and her husband Leon of Hondo, brother Charles William Schweers, Jr. of San Antonio. Six Children, Four Sons, Allen Shuler and wife Donna. Larry Shuler and wife Laura all of Hondo, TX.. Jim Shuler and wife Linda, and Gary Shuler of San Antonio. Two Daughters, Sheila Powers of San Antonio and Sharla Griffin and husband Joe Doug of Buda, TX. Twelve Grandchildren, Deanne Dellgardt. Tara Pearson. Mark Shuler, Tim Shuler, Andrea Coats, Garon Shuler, Laura Shuler. Mill Dawson. Allison Dawson, Reagan Sprowl, Jeff Sprowl, and Katelyn Neumann. Four Great Grandchildren, Eric and Tess Bellgardt, Rebecca and Brooke Shuler. There will be a public visitation at 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Saturday October 14th, Funeral Service will be at 2:00PM on Sunday October 15th both at Guinn-Forger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
