Linda Yvonne Santos Grant of Hondo, 76, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

She was born in Hondo March 1, 1948, one of seven children born to Thomas R. and Manuela Gonzales Santos.

After high school, Linda moved to California where she studied marine biology. Later, when she moved back to Texas and, becoming a homemaker, she turned her hobby of clothes making and alterations into a profession as a seamstress. She loved being outdoors, tending to her plants, especially flowers and fruit trees.  She liked to reminisce about the family and growing up in Hondo.

She loved to take her kids to South Padre Island and spend long days at the beach.  For shorter trips, she would take them, at a moment's notice, to the Hondo Creek.

She was a very creative person. She loved working with her hands, whether it be knitting, crocheting, sewing or any kind of crafting.

Confident in her opinions and fiercely independent, she always strove to get the story straight.

After becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses in the early 1980s, her faith never wavered.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Phillip Wilson; son, James Phillip Wilson II; and sister, Eva D. Santos.

Survivors include her daughter, Lara Olivarez (Roland); son, Andrew Grant; brothers, Tom Santos (Kate) and Paul Santos (Viola); sisters, Christine Santos, Elisa Beth Greisheimer (Jon), Beatrice Santos and Mary Santos.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1691 Hwy. 90 East, Hondo.
