Obituary

Lloyd Emil Graff departed this life on Oct. 10, 2008, following a short illness. Lloyd was born on Feb. 8, 1930, at home on the farm in Hondo, to Leo Walter Graff and Edna Lorine (Etter) Graff. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi. As a child, he attended Murphy School and later transferred to Hondo, graduating from Hondo High School in 1948. He was a member of the Sports Club and FFA, winning many awards with his hogs and steers. Also, while in FFA, he earned a Lone Star Farmer Degree. Lloyd spent his life farming and ranching on the home place. For a time he worked for Roy Boehle in Quihi, working on wells and as a tractor mechanic. As a young man, he became part of the Mounted Posse as a Deputy Sheriff and had training in basic civil defense. Lloyd was a member of Texas Farm Bureau and Hermann Sons, earning his 60-year pin. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fishing trips with his friends to Falcon Lake and Amistad. Not only was he dedicated to his family, but to his morning coffee group of very special friends at the Dairy Queen, rising early to beat the crowd. His best buddy was his dog, Rex. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Arlen. Lloyd is survived by his sister-in-law, Carolyn Sue Graff; niece, Beverly Graff Seals and husband Richard of Victoria; nephew, Neil Allen Graff and wife Stacy of Dripping Springs; great-nephew, Grayson McNay Seals; and great-nieces, Sarah and Rebekah Graff.
