Obituary

Lois Hotham Zinsmeyer, age 80, died peacefully with family at her bedside on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at her home in Austin, Texas. Lois was born on October 15, 1935 in Freeport, PA to Ethel Hotham and Dr. H. Dev. Hotham. She was the eldest of three children, with a younger sister Barbara Iglewski and younger brother Harland (Sandy) Hotham. While in nursing school in Pittsburgh, PA, she met Herbert G. Zinsmeyer and they were married on December, 13, 1958. Together, they had four boys, Charles, John, Edward (Eddie) and Kurt, seven grandchildren Tim, Holly, Callie, David, Rachel, Clark and Kayla and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Olivia. Charles is married to Patti Zinsmeyer and Holly to Elliot Stump. Her love of boating originated during her childhood, while boating with her family in a vintage Chris Craft power boat on the Allegheny River in Pennsylvania and she loved to sail with family and friends on Lake Travis in Austin, TX as well as in the Caribbean. She was a natural gardener and surrounded her home with beautiful plants and flowers. Her caring heart led her to an early nursing career that transitioned to a devoted and loving mother. The caregivers who so lovingly cared for her during her final years were captivated by her radiant smile and sweet personality. She is survived by her husband, Herbert of 57 years, two siblings, four sons, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her loving daughter-in-law, Kay Zinsmeyer who was married to her son John. Visitation will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish in Lakeway, Texas on Friday, December 11th from 1:00 to 3:00 and at Guinn-Horger Chapel in Hondo, Texas on Sunday, December 13th from 4:00 to 6:00. A rosary will be held on Monday, December 14th at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis, TX followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. and interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
