Obituary

Lola Lucille May Size-more was born June 4, 1913, in Kemp, Oklahoma, to Sam and Myrtle Cantrell May. On Oct. 28, 2015, at the age of 102, Lola came into the presence of her beloved Lord and Savior. She grew up a farmer's daughter and attended school up to the eighth grade. She married James A. "Bunk" Sizemore on July 30, 1932, in Madill, OK, and together they grew cotton on shares in the Shennan area. She and Bunk had three children: Bob, Peggy and James. Lola worked several different jobs in her lifetime, including sewing piecework, companion to her former third grade teacher, and for Texas Instruments, soldering computer chips in the days before computer chips were "micro." When Texas Instruments wanted to sell their computer chip to NASA, because of her precision work Lola was selected to do the soldering on the prototype. Lola was a faithfill church member and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and her family. Her "retirement" years were no less productive than her working years. At age 70, Lola moved to the Hondo area on a hill where she tamed her wild country acreage into a livable space using a chainsaw, .410 shotgun, and a little red pickup truck. She loved the outdoors and spent many hours on improvement projects, including paving her steep road one bag of cement at a time. Lola lived alone on her hill until she suffered a stroke at age 90. Being a strong personin mind, will and bodyLola lived another 12 years, continuing to brighten the lives of her family and those who encountered her. She could always find the bright side of any situation. Lola is predeceased by her parents; husband; brothers, Bonnie Charles May and Johnnie Marvin May; her son, Bob; and her first grandchild, Pamela Bratton Carlucci. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Robert) Bratton of Hondo; son, James (Lorna) Sizemore of Bedford; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren who will forever be thankful to have called her "Nano" and to have known her caring and fun-loving ways while serving the Savior she loved. We will see her again! Visitation was from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Guinn-Horger Chapel, with the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m., followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Lola's family would like to thank the staff at Hondo Health and Rehabilitation Center and River City Hospice for their care of our beloved Nano.
