Lorene Schott Tschirhart, age 92, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2006, at her home. She was born in Lakehills, Oct. 2, 1914, the daughter of Charles and Mattie (Callahan) Schott. Although she had no children of her own, she doted on her niece and nephews and their children. She loved to cook and host family gatherings and was happiest holding court at the dinner table. After family, traveling was her great love. She visited Russia, Australia, China, South America and Africa, and traveled by car in the United States, particularly in the western states. She also loved ranching and her animals were very special to her. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Rolland Tschirhart; second husband, William Volkman; brother, Rudolph R. Schott; and nephew, Rocky Schott. She is survived by her companion and caregiver, Alfred Barrientes of Hondo; nephews, Rudolph Schott and wife Billie of Llano and Randolph Schott and wife Pam of Lakehills; niece, Linda Schott of Canton, MI; great-nephews, James Schott of Littleton, CO, Decker Schott and Michael Schott, both of Canton, MI; great-nieces, Jean Schott and daughter Eileen of El Paso, Miranda Lorene Schott and Fawn Schott, both of Lakehills; step-great nephews, Joseph and Mathew Burke of Lakehills. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel, officiated by Rev. Stephen Schur of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi. Pallbearers were James Schott, Wilton Schott, Tom Wedgworth, Aaron Tschirhart, Gary Schott, Robert Tschirhart, Leslie Schott, and Mathew Burke. Honorary bearers were Jim Prue, Stanley Tschirhart, Joseph Burke, Toffi Satel, and Harold Pelham. Interment followed at Pipe Creek Cemetery.
