Louis Edward
Lutz
September 8, 1940 – August 31, 2022
On Wednesday, August 31, 2022, Louis Edward Lutz, dear husband and father of four, passed away at the age of 81.
He was born on Sept. 8, 1940, in Medina County to Louis Joseph Lutz and Corine (Rieber) Lutz; both preceded him in death.
Lou was bigger than life. He was 6'5". In his youth, he stood a head taller than every man in the room. He was tall before it was cool to be tall. He grew up in D'Hanis, Texas, graduated from high school and attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio for two years. In 1964, Lou married his sweetheart Mary Ann and they raised four children.
Lou was a farm boy that went to work in the city. His first job was selling Kirby vacuum cleaners, later he worked in a lumberyard, then for Pet milk and eventually in sales with William H. Rorer, selling Maalox and other pharmaceuticals. Lou loved sales and had found his first passion. The company morphed many times over 36 years before his first retirement in 2004. Lou received the top national sales award four times. When he had outdone himself, and management saw his hard work and dedication not only touched the company, but many charities as well, they created a new award for him, The Rhone Poulenc-Rorer President's Community Service award, in 1989.
Lou never sat still. Shortly after his first retirement, Lou and Mary Ann started Seco Secret catering. Together, they served thousands of plates of brisket, pork loin, and even chicken "fajitas". Lou had found his second passion. He never retired, having catered his last job, four days before passing away.
Lou leaves behind his wife, Mary Ann (Bayer) Lutz; his sons, Louis John (Lori) of San Antonio, James (Missi) of Boerne, and Mike (Andrea) of Boerne; his daughter, Lora Cavanna (Ramon) of Coppell; grandchildren, Louis Henry, Grant, Grace, Francis, Raphael (Evangelista), John, Vincent, Samuel, Mary Lou, Carleigh (Nick), James Colten, Conner, Jake (Mikah), Ryan, and Kyle; and great-grandchildren, Danni and Karter. Lou loved his family and was proud of each of his grandchildren.
