Lucia S. "Lucy" De La Cruz, age 68, one month, and 13 days, of Hondo, passed away March 26, 2004, in San Antonio at the SWT Methodist Hospital. She was born on February 13, 1936, in Hondo, to Pedro & Juanita (Ybarra) Sanchez. Lucy was a member of the Guadalupanas. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Amada and Marcelia Sancehz; brothers: Ernesto and Valentin Sanchez. She is survived by her husband: Anselmo De La Cruz of Hondo; daughters: Ellie Yarbough of San Antonio, Alice Yonker and husband Jason of Ft. Hood; son: Ernest De La Cruz and wife Leticia of San Antonio; daughter: Virginia De La Cruz and companion Steven Valadez of Hondo; 11 grand children and seven great grandchildren; sisters: Elena Martinez, Louisa Ramirez, Andrea Salazar, Alifonsa Trinidad, Lupe Correa, Eva Contreras, Martha Rios. The Rosary is scheduled for 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 28, at the St John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday, March 29, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. The Pallbearers were: Alex Contreras, John Contreras, Jimmy Gonzales, Lupe Salazar, Adolfo Garcia, Jerry Garcia, Joshua Paulsen, Eric Garcia. Burial will follow in the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
