Lucinda (Juarez) Garcia, age 77, of Hondo passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at her home. She was born Oct. 4, 1931, in Laredo, the daughter of Francisco and Juana (Martinez) Juarez. She was a strong woman who valued her faith in Jesus Christ and her family. She was a wonderful friend and an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Delia Juarez. Lucinda is survived by her loving husband, José M. Garcia; daughters, Juanita G. Salinas of Castroville and Mary Lou Rangel of Laredo; sons, José F. Garcia and wife Maribel of Laredo, Jaime H. Garcia and wife Irene of Laredo, and Jesus M. Garcia of Uvalde; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and half-sister, Ofelia Martinez of Laredo. Rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John's. Interment will be in the afternoon at Zapata Cemetery, Zapata.
