Luren Schweers Balzen of Hondo, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 6, 2006, at the age of 96. She was born in Quihi, Texas, October 2, 1910, the daughter of John & Anna M. (Ellebracht) Schweers. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Hugo Roland Balzen; brothers John Dietrich Schweers, Henry William Schweers, Emil F. Schweers; sisters Ella Yarbrough, Annie Mote, Bertha Mina Brucks; and an infant grandson. Luren is survived by her daughter Joyce M. Landrum and husband Lester of Quihi; son Joe H. Balzen and wife Erna of Quihi; 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 9 at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, October 10, 10:00 a.m. at the New Fountain United Methodist Church. The casketcarriers were Olen Wiemers, Rik Allbritton, Randall Graff, Pat Landrum, Ronald Love, Donnie Balzen. Burial will follow at the Quihi Cemetery.
