Macario "Mac" Santillano, age 88, of Hondo passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009. Born June 2, 1921, in San Antonio, he was the son of Jesus and Epifania (Garcia) Santillano. He worked many years at Hondo Lumber Company. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Juan, Alejandro, Jose, and Benito Santillano; sisters, Teodora Aguilar, Luisa Trevino and Benigna Santillano; and grandson, Ronald Robert Ruiz. He is survived by his wife, Petra (DeLeon) Santillano; son, Gumecindo Santillano and wife Elida of Hondo and Pedro Santillano of San Antonio; daughters, Santos Santillano of Hondo, Narcissa Ruiz and husband John of San Antonio, Virginia Sherry and husband Ronald of Baytown, and Susie Carroll of Hondo; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Aurora Dominguez. Rosary was recited Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Guinn-Horger Chapel.Funeral Mass was held at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Pallbearers were Sean Buchanan, Garland Bader, Gary Halbardier, Ray Garza, John Ruiz Jr., and Anthony Santillano. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
