Madis Kay Smith Keath of Hondo passed away February 26, 2024, at the age of 80.
She was born November 18, 1943 in Sabinal, Texas to Vernon Hinsdale Smith and Georgie Wentworth Smith.
Madis graduated from Sabinal High School in 1961. She received her BS in Elementary Education from Texas A&I University in 1964 and later received her Master of Education from Sul Ross in Uvalde. She was a teacher and retired as a Special Education Elementary Teacher from Hondo ISD. On July 2, 1966, Madis married Dan Keath at the First United Methodist Church in Sabinal.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Bradley Livingston of Conroe and Sarah and Bobby Jack Rushing of Leakey; grandchildren, William Price Rushing, Susanna Kay Livingston, Macy Jane Livingston, Tessa Keath Rushing, and Kyle Guthrie Livingston; sister, Janice Stewart of Sugarland; in-laws, Ann Keath of Sabinal and Jane and Seth Witcher of San Antonio.
Madis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dan Keath; parents-in-law, Medford and Dorris Keath; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Bob Kruger; and her in-laws, Butch Keath and Marion Stewart.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Hondo. A reception will follow the memorial service. Memorials may be made in Madis? memory to the First Baptist Church of Hondo or to the charity of your choice.
