Marciel Smith, age 59, of Hondo, passed away October 18, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her family. Marciel was born Oct. 6, 1954 in Falfurrias, TX to the late Robert Cleveland Brown and Frances Louise Hellums Brown. In 1973 she graduated from Premont High School. On May 18, 1974 she married Michael Joe Smith in Premont, TX. Marciel was very active in the community. She was president and co-owner of The Rustic Courtyard, the founding director of the Dramatic Diva Productions, a member of the Hondo Area Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Hondo Central Business District Advisory Board, and was on the organizing committee for Hondo's "Second Saturday Sip and Stroll". Marciel was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Manny Brown. Survivors include her husband, Mike Smith of Hondo; children, Michael Joe Smith, Jr. and his fiancee Tammy Grayson of Devine, Molly Brown Daniel of Hondo, Marisa Lee Zachry and her husband, Charles, of Midland; grandchildren, Brandon and Danielle Grayson, Madison and Brooklyn Daniel, Caiden, Cannon, and Cooper Zachry; siblings, Robert (Beth) Brown, Jr. of Premont, Ceylun Brown of Lago Vista and Casey (Frances) Brown of Premont; business partner and close friend, Kathy Blount of Hondo; 10 nieces, 11 nephews and 24 great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Hondo. Interment will follow in Hondo Cemetery.
