Margaret Ann "Mogie" Laughinghouse Boon of San Marcos, formerly of Hondo, 87, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017. Born in Hondo, Aug. 21, 1929, she was the daughter of Otis Earl Laughinghouse and Hattie Julia Johanna Stiegler Laughinghouse, who precede her in death. Mogie graduated Hondo High School in 1946 and the University of Houston College of Nursing with an RN degree in 1950. She worked at Hermann Hospital in Houston 1951-61. She served 10 years as Medina County Health Department Nurse and 18 years as Hondo ISD school nurse. She and John Earl Boon were married Aug. 30, 1954, at St. John's Catholic Church. Mogie was a member of Hondo Garden Club and First United Methodist Church UMW. Survivors include her husband; daughter, Lucianne "Luci" Boon (Tim) Altenhoff of San Marcos; son, Brian J. (Carolyn) Boon of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Whitney Altenhoff, Conner (Bliss) Altenhoff, Erik (Courtney) Boon and Kelly Boon; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Altenhoff and Paycen Bombardier; brother, W. L. "Bill" (Mary) Laughinghouse of Hondo; and many favorite nieces and nephews. Graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, at Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section.
