Maria Paulina Saathoff Adkins of San Antonio, 86, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018. Born in Hondo, March 6, 1932, she was the daughter of Charles L "Charley" and Maria Garza Saathoff, who precede her in death. Maria grew up in Hondo and graduated from Hondo High School. As a military wife, she traveled extensively with her husband and four daughters. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. Her hobbies included attending church, being a prayer warrior, and working in her yard. She was a woman of strong faith who taught the Word of God to family and friends. In addition to her husband of 62 years, William Jay Adkins, she is survived by four daughters, Nora (Robert) Steen of San Antonio, Delma (James) Smith of San Antonio, Barbara (Rheuben) Hair of Kyle and Nancy (Bruce) Warner of San Antonio; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother, Louis C. (Connie) Saathoff of Austin; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 11, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held Tuesday,June 12, 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
