Maria Mares Correa of Hondo passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, at the age of 84.

Born in D'Hanis, July 5, 1937, she was the daughter of Mariano C. and Gregoria Gonzales Mares.

Maria was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to be outdoors and being with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Feliciano "Felix" Correa; and brothers, Felix Mares, Manuel Mares and Mariano Mares; and grandsons, Joey Palacios, Eddy Correa Jr. and Cody Betancourt.

Survivors include her children, Lisa Palacios, Belma Alvarado (Elizar), Eddy Correa (Lucy Lopez),  Bobby Correa, Belinda Correa, Larry Correa and Nancy Myers (Billy Joe); 20 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 24, from 6 to 7 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel, with a funeral service to be held at 7 p.m.

Graveside service and interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section, will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25.
