Maria De La Luz "Mary"(Garcia) Mares age 65, passed away on August 30, 2005 in Hondo, Texas. She was born on June 8, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Felipe & Santos (Ramos) Garcia. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Linda Ann Garcia Arriola; sister Juanita Reyes, Alicia Garcia, Erlinda Martinez; brother Tony Garcia. Mary is survived by her husband Jose D. Mares; daughters Delia Garcia and friend James of San Antonio, Grace Guajardo of MI; son Frank Garcia of Hondo; 18 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; sister Delma Moreno of San Antonio, Amalia R. Garcia of San Antonio, Margie Tenorio of San Antonio, Leticia Ramon of San Antonio; brothers Santiago Garcia of San Antonio, Mario Ramos of Austin. The Rosary will be Friday, September 2, at 7:00 p.m. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Funeral Mass will be Saturday, September 3, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church officiated by Fr. Jeff Pehl. The pallbearers were Willie Nira, Jason Garcia, Felipe Garcia, Myron Garcia, Silvino Gonzales, Jr., Abel Garcia. Burial will follow in the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
