Maria O. Hernandez of Hondo, 88, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2016. Born in LaCoste, Mar. 16, 1928, she was the daughter of Esteban and Refugia Ortega Hernandez. Maria was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Virjinia; and brothers, Juan, Guillermo "Willie", Pedro "Pete" and Antonio Hernandez. Survivors include her sisters, Guadalupe "Lupe" Hernandez of Hondo, Margaret Apaez and Estella (Manuel) Arteaga, all of San Antonio; and brothers, Tereso (Cathy) Hernandez of Jourdanton, Felix (Elba) Hernandez of San Antonio, Andres (Dora) Hernandez of San Antonio and Steven Hernandez of Hondo; and sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Hernandez of El Paso and Virginia Hernandez of San Antonio. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 6 to 6:30 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Additional visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7 p.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 20, 10 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
