Maria Flores Silva, age 79, of D'Hanis passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2014. Born in D'Hanis, June 30, 1934, she was the daughter of Alfonso and Alejandra (Constante) Flores. She was a homemaker and had operated Flores Cafe in D'Hanis for several years, as had her mother and sister, Julia. Maria was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jose Maria Silva; brothers, Tomas Flores and Theodore Flores and sisters, Elena "Helen" Flores, Beatrice "Rita" Silva and Julia Rodriguez. Surviving are her children, Sylvia Lutz and husband John of D'Hanis, Diana Aguirre of D'Hanis, J. Michael Silva and life partner Mike Herman of San Antonio, Roberto "Bobby" Silva and fiancée Stephanie Martinez of D'Hanis, Sandy Silva of D'Hanis, Chris Silva and significant other Theresa Vaughan of Richmond VA, and Johnny Silva and wife Arlene of San Antonio; 13 grandchildren, Jason Lutz and wife Jessica of Fredericksburg, Elizabeth Lutz of San Antonio, Daniel Silva of Hondo, Jake Herman and fiancée DiAundra Carter of San Antonio, Roberto, Richard and Maggie Silva of Kingsville, Michael Wayne Silva of D'Hanis, Gena Silva of Los Angeles, Emily Amborn Silva and Matthew Christopher Silva of Richmond VA, Lorenzo Silva and Lena Silva of San Antonio; seven great-grandchildren, Sophia Lutz, John Lutz, Jacoby Herman, Roberto Silva III, Anna Marie Silva, Derrick Dwayne Thomas and Danika Sky Thomas (with three expected); sister, Esther Saavedra of D'Hanis; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 10 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited at 9:45, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Services will conclude at the church. The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Guadalupana Society of Holy Cross.
