Maria Zapata of D'Hanis, Texas, passed away December 15, 2003, in Hondo, at the age of 69. She was born in D'Hanis, Texas on March 26, 1934. She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. She is preceded in death by her father: Miguel Zapata; brothers: Tomas, Frank, Edward, and Greg Zapata; sisters: Roberta E. Dominguez, Macaela Zapata. She is survived by her son: Mario Victor Saldana and wife Norma of Hondo; grandchildren: Samantha & Terri Saldana of Hondo; brothers: Emilio Zapata, Domingo Zapata, Alberto Zapata, Miguel Zapata, Jr. all of D'Hanis; sisters: Josie Contreras of Sabinal, Delia Cortez of D'Hanis; mother: Carlota Zapata of D'Hanis. The Rosary is scheduled following the regular 7:00 p.m. Wednesday Mass on Wednesday, December, 17, 2003 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis and the Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2003 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church. The pallbearers were: Greg Zapata, David Contrereas, Adam Zapata, Ruben Dominguez, Ramon Zapata, Daniel Zapata. Burial followed in the San Francisco Cemetery in D'Hanis.
