Mario A. Lopez of Hondo passed away Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020. He was 72.

Born Sept. 12, 1947, in Hondo, he was the son of Alcario B. and Felice Moncada Lopez, who preceded him in death.

Mario graduated from Dover Air Force Base High School in 1966, joined the Army and served from 1966 to 1969. He attended Texas A&I-Kingsville after release from the Army and graduated in 1973 with a business degree.

Mario enjoyed collecting stamps, coins and all forms of music items and Yankee memorabilia. Until recently he enjoyed making twice-a-year trips to Las Vegas.

Survivors include his sister, Beverly Lopez of Hondo; brother, Ronnie (Connie) Lopez of Dilley; nephews, Paul Michael and Kristopher, and niece, Gina.

Prayer service will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 29, at Guinn-Horger Chapel.

The family suggests memorials may be made to any veteran's organization.
