Mark Louis Delk, age 77, of Yancey passed away Monday, June 15, 2009, in San Antonio after battling pneumonia. He was born Oct. 5, 1931, in Dallas, the son of William Edward and Bessie Mae (Franklin) Delk. Mark was preceded in death by his parents. He married Shirley Beth Wiemers in 1955. He was an attorney, a member of the State Bar of Texas, a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, and had served as president of the Arabian Horse Club of Texas. He was a U. S. Army. veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 53 years; sons, Russell Louis Delk and wife Nancy of Yancey and Gregory Mark Delk of Yancey and fiancee Colleen Cupp; granddaughters, Whitney Leigh Delk of Austin, Taylor Dietrich Delk of New York, and Courtney Beth Delk of Hondo; and sister, Georgia Marie Demanchi of Wichita Falls. Graveside service was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 18, at New Fountain Cemetery with Pastor Keith Dennis of Devine officiating. Casket bearers were his sons and granddaughters, Courtney and Whitney; and William Strait, Ryan Russell and Buzz Rogers.
