Obituary

Mark Edward Poynter of Yancey, 67, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021.

Born Feb. 20, 1954, in San Antonio, he was the son of Leonard Raymond and Minnie Dorothy Read Poynter.

Mark was a graduate of Edison High School in S.A. He was an ASE certified master mechanic and worked in several major car dealerships. Mark was a devout Christian, quite a student of the Bible, and devoted to his Seventh-day Adventist Church in Yancey in which he was the Head Elder. Mark was a gentle, kind spirit who loved helping his fellow neighbors and church family. He was an avid fisherman, birdwatcher and diehard S.A. Spurs fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, James R. Poynter.

He is survived by his daughter, Kendra Crerand of San Antonio; three grandchildren; brother, William A. (Roz) Poynter of Austin; nephew, Ryan J. Poynter of San Antonio; cousin, Deborah Dean Ragazzi of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Debra Catalani of New Braunfels; former wife, Terry Hanline of Natalia; dear friend, Eunice Soliz of Yancey; and many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials may be made to Yancey Seventh-day Adventist Church, PO Box 164, Yancey, Tx 78886.
