Marvin Felix Beyer, age 80, of Hondo passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, surrounded by members of his family. Born Feb. 5, 1932, in Fredericksburg, he was the son of Felix and Norma (Wunderlich) Beyer. He and Mary Louise Nietenhoefer were married on June 11, 1960. A hard worker, he drove a propane truck for 51 years, having worked for DeMontel's, Gooding Oil, Green Eagle, and C&W Fuels. He often went out of his way to take care of his customers. Over the years, Marvin was a member of St. Paul Luther League and the choir, served as Sunday School superintendent, and became caretaker of the church grounds after his father died. He liked get-togethers with his family, being outdoors with his animals and hummingbirds, "his" Astros, and watching the Hondo Owls. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond Beyer; and brother-in-law, Raymond Raute. He is survived by his wife Mary; daughters, Melody Ann Beyer of Hondo and Nora Lynn Brewer of Devine; granddaughter, Leslie Ann Pike and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Tyler Chase, Ray Ann Elizabeth, Madison Lynn and Cody James Pike, all of Devine; sisters, Elizabeth Raute of San Antonio and Marian Lindeburg and husband Elroy of Hondo; sister-in-law, Clara Beth Beyer of Florida; brother-in-law, Roy Nietenhoefer Jr. and wife Helen of Maine; nieces, Vicki Beyer, Rae-Lynne Smith, Susan Pawelek, Janice Houghtling and Dianna Smith; nephews, Larry Raute; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Bearers are Paul Honig, Jimmy Walch, William Reus, Weldon Honig, Dr. Miles Hutson, and Chuck Beard. Honorary bearers are Joel Moss, Leonard Zinsmeyer, Albert Rowlett, LeRoy Beyer, and Montie Mumme. The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
