Obituary

Marvin G. Dean, age 86, of D'Hanis passed away Jan. 3, 2003, in San Antonio. He was born in Tarpley, Dec. 9, 1916. Marvin was a retired telegrapher for the railroad. Marvin grew up on a ranch in Bandera County and knew well the meaning of hard work. He married Mary Jo Wood in April 6, 1946, after serving his country in World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Dean of D'Hanis; brother, J.E. Dean of Tarpley; sister-in-law, Neva Dean of Hondo; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Hope and Mary Etta (Bridges) Dean; brothers, Lewis Hope and Robert Dean; sisters, Vashti Sparks, Mary Chism. Pallbearers were Gary Hethcoat, Charles Dean, Don Dean, Richard Alsaker, M. Larry Dean and Ken Black. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel, led by John O. McKay. Interment followed in Tarpley Cemetery, Tarpley.
