Mary Louise
"Ecey" Decker Renken
December 5, 1933 – November 25, 2021
Mary Louise "Ecey" Decker Renken was born December 5, 1933, in her parent's farm/ranch home in Vandenberg (Hondo) Texas. Parents were Elna Batot Decker and Herbert Henry Decker.
Mary Louise was baptized on January 21, 1934, at St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a member all her life.
She was educated in the Hondo ISD school system, graduated high school in 1951, when she worked for a short time before marrying Craig Wilson of Yancey, Texas. Craig died of cancer after only four years of marriage in 1955. They had no children.
Ecey worked at Jack Winkler Motors as a bookkeeper where she met and married Milton J. "Fuzzy" Renken, who eventually was employed there for 40 years. Ecey became a stay-at-home mother and they were blessed with three children, Anna Louise Renken Lafrenz, David Decker Renken and Jill Marie Renken Matthews.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Rev. Nathan Lafrenz, Norma Chapa Renken, and Stephen Matthews; grandchildren, Jillian Renken Brown (Tanner), Drew Decker Renken (Erin), Jonathan Lafrenz (Amanda) and Stephen Matthews Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Sonny and Birdie Brown. She is also survived by nephew, Joseph Decker; niece, Robyn Decker Tondre; and grand-nephews, Chance, Adam, Kyle, J.R. and Joshua Decker.
Ecey was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerome Decker; sister-in-law, Jackie Decker Krueger; and their son, Kirk Decker.
Ecey's parting thoughts were, "I am blessed by the assurance that Jesus Christ died for my sins and is my Savior. I have tried to live my life according to His will. I am thankful to have had a loving and faithful husband and father to my children for 51 years. I am thankful for my precious earthly father, Herbert, who always told me to "do unto others as I would have them do unto you". I was also blessed with a loving and devoted mother who was a very special lady to all who knew her as "Nana". Lastly, I am thankful for my many friends and St. Paul Family."
Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church building fund.
