Mary Louise "Mitzie" Schulte Mazurek, age 77, of Hondo passed away Friday, July 20, 2012. Born in Dunlay, March 23, 1935, she was the daughter of Alfred Heinrich George and Louisa Sophie (Hartmann) Schulte. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis; brothers, Leroy H. and David Ray Schulte; brother-in-law, Marion Schneider and sister-in-law, Carole Schulte. Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Maytum and husband David of Boerne, Linda Love and husband Rick of New Braunfels, son Terry Mazurek and wife Becky of Buda; grandchildren, Erin Kretschmar and husband, Andy of Austin, Garrett Mazurek and wife Stacy of Ft. Worth, Mitchell Mazurek of Buda and Matt Love of New Braunfels. She is also survived by siblings, Alfred Schulte Jr. and wife Lois of Kerrville, Charles "Sonny" Schulte and wife Annette of Bandera, Thomas J. Schulte of Dilley, Myrtle Schneider of Castroville, Ruth Franklin and husband Stanley of Pearsall, and Carolyn Adamietz and husband Raymond of Bandera. After working many years at Hondo National Bank, Mitzie enjoyed decorating her home (especially at Christmas), caring for her yard and traveling to Las Vegas to try her luck at the slots. But, above all else, she loved being "Granny" to her grandchildren. Mitzie was extremely proud of all her grandkids and was happiest when all the family gathered together. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi, with Rev. Stephen Schur officiating. Interment was at Quihi Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church where Mitzie enjoyed being a member of Reverend Schur's congregation.
