Mary Ella Hesse Meredith, formerly of D'Hanis, age 90, passed away in Wisconsin Monday, April 2, 2018. Born in Pittsburg, PA, Sept. 27, 1927, she was the daughter of Konrad L. and Hedwig Hoffken Hesse. Mary worked for United Airlines 38 years at their congressional desk, making travel arrangements for congressional members and staff. She also loved to travel and she and her husband traveled around the world. They retired in McLean VA and then decided to move to D'Hanis to be near her sister. She loved her nieces and nephews and they loved her. She will be greatly missed. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas William Meredith; sisters, Hedwig H. Vaughn and Irmgard H. Mockus; and brother-in-law, Skip Barchfeld. Survivors include sister, Martha M. Barchfeld of D'Hanis and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, April 9, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., with a brief prayer service at 2:30 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in D'Hanis. The family suggests memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice or Holy Cross Cemetery Perpetual Care.
