Obituary

Mary Jo Herbold Patterson 10-15-1917 to 12-14-2005 She was the wife of Andrew D. Patterson; mother of Bonnie Lee Patterson and David Charles Patterson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years and son, David. She is survived by daughter, Bonnie Lee Patterson; grandson and wife, Trent Alan and Peggy Ann Ricketts; and two great-grandsons, Brandon and Shawn Smith. Mary Jo was born in Warren, Ohio, October 15, 1917, and after the premature death of her Mother, was raised by her grandfather, Wendall H. Shipler, and a housekeeper in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She married Andy Patterson, June 27, 1936. They lived in New Castle until their move to Hondo, Texas in August 1955. Hondo became the home she loved for the next 50 years. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Hondo and through the mid 90's had been active in the Hondo Garden Club, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and other local organizations. She was a former member of Eastern Star. She loved to play bridge and continued to play regularly after her move to Houston, Texas. She was funny, spirited and feisty. She will be missed by family and friends, old and new. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 10:15 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Hondo, Texas. Reverend Beverly Burk will conduct the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Hondo, Texas, or the American Heart Association, Texas Affiliate, P. O. Box 15186, Austin, Texas 78761-5186.
