Obituary

Mary Josephine Scott Moos of Hondo rejoined the Lord on  Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, at the age of 78.

Mary Jo, as she commonly went by, was born on Jan. 20, 1944, in Uvalde, to Harvey and Catherine Sutherland Scott.

Mary Jo attended Southwest Texas Junior College and Southwest Texas State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Education, and later earning a Masters of Science in Education from Sul Ross State University. She taught at St. John's Catholic School and Meyer Elementary School. She retired from Pearson Publishers in San Antonio (previously Harcourt Publishing).

Mary Jo was married to Rudy Moos on Nov. 23, 1963, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. They were blessed with almost 59 years of marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harvey Jack "Bubba" Scott; grandson, Jacob Allan Moos; and great-grandsons, Jacob Bryson McKee and Canaan Daniel McKee.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Houston "Rowdy" Moos (Gina) and Scott A. Moos (Cheryl O'Dell-Moos); grandchildren, Kala, Alexandra, Sierra, Reagan, Ashtyn and Jewelia Moos, Braelynn O'Dell-Moos and Liliam Leeper-O'Dell; great-grandchildren, D'Artagnyon Moos, Lillie Chavez, McKinley Moos and Allynae Moos; brother, Billy John Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at Hondo Cemetery, St. John Section.
