Mary Belle Gerdes Snyder, age 85, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Born in Hondo, Nov. 16, 1929, she was the daughter of Herman and Elsie Oefinger Gerdes. Living for many years in Corpus Christi, Mary was a homemaker and loving mother. When she and Bill retired and moved to Quihi, they became cattle ranchers. She loved animals, especially her dog, Lulu, who was her faithful companion. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Snyder Sr.; and brother, Archie Ray Gerdes. Survivors include her sons, William (Rande) Snyder Jr. of San Antonio and Richard (Marlene) Snyder of Hondo; daughter, Sherrie (Don) Beralek of Hondo; grandchildren, Deann Strong of Corpus Christi, Kayla Beralek of Waco and Krystal Beralek of Hondo; and sister, Margie Sampson of San Antonio. Visitation will be Friday, May 22, 6 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 23, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi, with interment at Quihi Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi.
