Mary Sue Thomason Kircus of Hondo went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 6, 2024. She was 77.
Born June 24, 1946, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, she was the daughter of John T. and Lillian Cotton Thomason.
Sue was a proud member of Cowboy Church in God's Country where she was baptized by her favorite pastor, Ross Hardwick, on Dec. 27, 2015.
Sue's legacy is, and will always be, that of a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and loyal friend. The love she held for her children and grandchildren was a most selfless love. She gave herself for them, even if it pained her heart.
Her hard work, dedication and love for God and her family will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply and forever missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carolyn Thomason; brothers, Sydney Bostian (Bonnie) and Ray Thomason; and brother-in-law, Charles Hilton.
Survivors include her daughters; Cammie Kircus-McLelland (J.C.) and Lillian Castleberry (Kevin); grandchildren, Christi Rynearson (Bob), Tiffany Utley (Jerry), Corey Barnes (Jessica), Carlee McLelland and Kolton Castleberry; great-grandchildren, Zakary Utley, Kaiden Utley, Matthew Janssen, Blaire Barnes, Alli Rynearson, Lane Rynearson, Zachary Janssen, Caleb Janssen, Paislee Davis, Rylee Utley and Carter Barnes; brother, Charles Thomason (Judy); sister, Mildred Hilton; and sister-in-law, Rosemary Thomason
Visitation will be Friday, June 14, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel.
Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at Guinn-Horger Chapel will be followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
Casket bearers will be Corey Barnes, Adam Utley, J. C. McLelland, John McClure, Johnny Thomason, Derrick Stricker, Matthew Janssen and Walker Page.
Following the interment, a reception will be held at 1208 21st Street (parking behind funeral home).
