Mary Catherine (Hoog) Ulbrich, age 86, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, in Hondo. She was born in Castroville, Mar. 18, 1920, the daughter of Albert and Emma (Schmitt) Hoog. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Ulbrich, in 2003; brothers, Joseph, Francis, Thomas and Albert Hoog; and sisters, Sister Dorothy Louise Hoog, Catherine "Kitty" Tondre and Joan Ann Hoog. Mary was a homemaker, seamstress, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and of the Altar Society. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Rita and Leo Kissner of Houston, Becky and Charles Miller of Travelers Rest, SC, Pete and Patsy Ulbrich of Hondo, Patsy and John Melton of Hondo, Kathy and Charles Martin of Brookeland, TX; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Hoog and Ray-mond Hoog, both of Castroville. Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. and Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 1, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Mar. 2, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. The family suggests memorials in her name be made to the Alzheimer¿½s Assn., American Diabetes Foundation, or St. John¿½s Catholic Church.
