Melchor Gallegos of D'Hanis, Texas, passed away August 1, 2004, at the age of 89 years, 2 months, 7 days. Melchor was born on May 24, 1915, to Melchor & Piedad (Ortiz) Gallegos in D'Hanis, Texas He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Vicenta (Cortez) Gallegos, daughter: Evangelina Gallegos; son-in-law: George Martin Gomez; brothers: Jesus, Elias, Ignacio, Juanito, and Zeferino Gallegos; sisters: Juanita, Julia, and Lupe Gallegos. Melchor is survived by his sons: David Gallegos and wife Beatrice of D'hanis, Gilbert Gallegos and wife Oralia of Uvalde, Rudy Gallegos and wife Juanita of D'Hanis; daughters: Velia Gonzales and husband Ramon of D'Hanis, Vicenta Gomez of D'Hanis. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Wednesday August 4, 2004, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church. The pallbearers were: Reñe Contreras, Julio Gomez, Jesse Hernandez, Daniel G. Gonzales, Arturo Gonzales, David R. Gallegos. Interment will follow at the San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis, Texas.
