Mervin A. Batot of Hondo, Texas, passed away November 22, 2005, at the age of 93. He was born August 31, 1912, in Hondo, the son of Leo & Otilla Mattie (Lieber) Batot. Mervin lived on his beloved Farm all his life. It was his home and safe-haven. To him, Hondo was truly God's Country. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Oscar Joseph Batot, Arnold J. Batot; sister Earline Collins; nephew Richard M. Batot. Mervin is survived by his niece Mary Lois Estes and husband David of Lytle; nephew Donald J. Batot and wife Jo Helen of Sabinal; niece Patsy Ruth Jackson and husband John of Jourdanton, Arnold Jean Lansford and husband Harvey of Fredericksburg; nephew John L. Batot and wife Barbara of Kerrville. The Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr Jeff Pehl, will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 26, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. The pallbearers were his great nephews John Jackson, Jr., Jeff Jackson, Lee Batot, John Batot, Jr., John Michael Batot, Todd Batot, Aaron Batot. Interment will follow in Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section.
