The joy that Mike M. Perkins brought to his world is now a special memory to those who knew him. Mike, age 54, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, in Castroville.

Born March 22, 1971, in Worcester, MA, Mike was the son of Freedom Frederick Perkins, Sr. and Brigitte Friedrich Perkins, who have preceded him in death.

Mike had a special personality. He lived largely "in the moment" and enjoyed life as it came. He loved the people who took care of his needs and they loved him in return. He never forgot a face or a name and had no malice toward anyone.

His favorite things included rings and watches and he often wore as many as six watches at once. He loved numbers and calculators, Christmas and birthday presents, Legos, music of every genre, chocolate, coffee, playing cards and watching game shows. His special needs inspired his brother to become a pediatrician.

He is survived by his beloved siblings, Wanda Perkins (Mario Enriquez) and Freedom F. "Fred" Perkins, Jr., MD (Silvia), and his nephew, Jamie Perkins.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. Louis Cemetery, Castroville.
