Mildred Elizabeth "Milly" Lutz Freeman, age 71, of D'Hanis passed away Thursday, Apr. 23, 2015. Born in D'Hanis, Aug. 30, 1943, she was the daughter of William Arnold and Beulah Mae Rudinger Lutz. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she tended to her family and enjoyed hosting holidays. She loved to garden, sew and quilt. She volunteered at the Community Care Center in Hondo for years. As a member of the Pumpkin Queens, she volunteered alongside her friends. She and several friends formed a monthly Bunco luncheon for their "Little Ladies" (older citizens). She was always helping someone. Milly was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Robert "Derrick" Berg; and brother-in-law, Melvin Pack. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Rodney James Freeman; daughter, Tanna E. Berg, and son James Blaine Freeman, both of Hondo; grandchildren, Brandy (Robert) Quayle of Hondo and Kyle James (Leah) Berg of Converse; great-grandchildren, Katelynne Pumphrey of Hondo, Gavin Biesenbach, Adian Diaz, Reanna Quayle and Dylan Quayle, all of San Antonio; brother, August A. (June) Lutz of Kerrville; and sisters, Alyne "Babs" (Curtis) Long of D'Hanis and Joan Pack of Grand Prairie. Visitation will be Sunday, Apr. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 2 p.m., on Monday, Apr. 27, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, D'Hanis. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section. The family suggests memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice.
