Nelda Minnie Justine Beard of Quihi, Texas, passed away October 12, 2005, at the age of 84. She was born August 4, 1921, in Quihi, the daughter of Jacob Henry & Louisa Maria Theresa (Graff) Schweers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lee Andrew Beard, Jr.; brothers Charles Schweers, Frank Schweers, Andrew Schweers, Clarence Schweers; sisters Dora Muennink, Viola Rountree, Alice Cagle. Nelda is survived by her daughters Patricia Amezquita and husband Michael of San Antonio, Bonnie Hunt of Colleyville, Debbie Barnwell of San Antonio; son Lee Andrew Beard, III of San Antonio; four grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; brother Harry Schweers of Hondo; sister Martha Santleben of Seattle, WA. A member of New Fountain United Methodist Church, Nelda, lived in Quihi for most of her life. When she wasn't taking care of her home and children, she worked at Ulbrich's Hardware Store. Her home is listed under the Texas Registry for farms that are in continuous operation for more than a century. Nelda worked at the hardware store for twenty years and prior to that she worked for Southwestern Bell as a Telephone Operator. The Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, October 14, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. Funeral Service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, at the New Fountain United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Bill Treude. The casketcarriers were W.J. Schweers, Harold Schweers, Bobby Jarrett, Shannan Young, Casey Methvin, Alan Shuler. Interment will follow at the Quihi Cemetery.
