Nelma E. Boales Bohmfalk of Hondo, 78, passed away Monday, Oct. 2, 2017. Born in Leakey, July 6, 1939, she was the daughter of Jack D. Boales Sr. and Mabel Nancy Routt Boales. Nelma enjoyed sewing, Bridge, dominoes and visiting casinos. She was proud to make and share fudge and pecan pies with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, J. D. Boales and Lawrance Boales; and sister, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Smith. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Wilbur E. Bohmfalk; son, Lawrance W. (Jessica) Bohmfalk of Oxford AR; daughter, Laura Elaine (Richard) Ward of Bastrop; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Virlyn) Boales of Uvalde; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 6, from 9 to 10 a.m., prior to the funeral service at 10 a.m. at New Fountain United Methodist Church, Hondo. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Bearers are R. Chad Ward, B. Leon Yoder, Kade Thigpen, Eddie Thigpen, Michael Bohmfalk and Harry Hollister. Honorary bearers are Kipp Boales, Todd Boales and Luis "Chico" Portillo. The family suggests memorials may be made to New Fountain United Methodist Church, 2980 FM 2676, Hondo TX 78861, or the charity of one's choice.
