Norine Lucille
Hartmann Moss
December 13, 1932 – March 18, 2021
Norine Lucille Elsie Hartmann Moss, 88, of Hondo went to her heavenly home at 4:02 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 18, 2021.
She was born Dec. 13, 1932, at New Fountain, the fifth child of Fritz and Leota Lindeburg Hartmann.
Lucille was baptized July 27, 1934, in Quihi. Her sponsors were Arnold and Elsie Folk Lindeburg. She was confirmed Sept. 1, 1946, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Quihi.
Lucille graduated as Salutatorian at Hondo High School in 1951. She played on the girls' basketball team and maintained a love of basketball throughout her life.
After graduation, she worked as an operator for the telephone company in Hondo. Her co-worker, Sarah Moss, introduced her to her future husband, James P. Moss. After she married, she worked for the telephone company in Uvalde, Hearne and Bryan.
She was united in marriage with James P. Moss on Aug. 16, 1952, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Quihi. They enjoyed 36 years together and they were blessed with three children, Connie, Joel and Janice. After her children were born, Lucille became a stay-at-home mom. In 1981 she went to work at Lieberman's Dept. Store in Hondo. She worked there until they closed and then she went to work at the Medina County Treasurer's office. She worked for the county for 20 years and retired in 2004.
Lucille enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite destinations was the California central valley where her grandchildren were at the time. She also loved going to Las Vegas. One of her trips was "a dream come true" when she went to the Grand Ol' Opry at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville TN. Lucille had many travel adventures and loved them all.
Her faith was very important to her. She shared her faith by teaching Sunday School, Bible School and participating in Women's Circle activities. Her faith journey inspired many and she made sure her children and grandchildren followed her example. (Proverbs 31:28, Her children rise up and call her blessed.)
Lucille was blessed with three granddaughters, whom she loved very much. She enjoyed going to their sporting and band events and all other highlights of their lives that she was able to attend. In the eyes of her grandchildren, she was a perfect Omie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; brothers, Elmer G. Hartmann, Elton Jay Hartmann and Harold Hartmann; and her sister, Crystal Rose Hartmann Walch.
She is survived by her children, Connie Moss, Joel Moss, and Janice Zinsmeyer and husband Leonard P. Zinsmeyer, Jr., and grandchildren, Stephanie, Danielle and Jamie Zinsmeyer. She is also survived by her brother, Alvin Hartmann and his wife, Flicky, of Germantown TN; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Hartman and Sarah Moss, both of Hondo, June Moss of Decatur AL and Ethel Faye Goodwin of Sugarland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, Mar. 21, 6 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service will be Monday, Mar. 22, 10 a.m. at St, Paul Lutheran Church, Hondo, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, American Heart Association or the Kidney Foundation.
