Oral W. "Sparky"Sparks, age 91, passed on to be with our Lord on January 11, 2011. "Sparky" was born in Buffalo Springs, Texas on September 17, 1919 (oldest of three children born to Doy Oral and Frances Rogers Sparks). He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Wesley Sparks. He is survived by his spouse of 67 years, Frances Bendele Sparks of San Augustine, Texas, one daughter Peggy Sparks Nunez, son-in-law Albert Nunez of Hemphill, Texas, grandson Frank (Trey) Keene III of Montgomery, Texas, granddaughter Senisa Blume, grandson Eric Blume, two great grandsons, Austen and Noah Blume of Houston, Texas, one great granddaughter, Jessica Oevermann of Cypress, Texas and sister, Billye Jean Smith of Dallas, Texas, sister-in-law Nancy Sparks of Midland, Texas along with numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Sparky served American Legion Hal Jones Post 128 as Commander, Adjutant, and Chaplain in addition to St. Paul Church Council under tenure of Pastor Windecker. He also served as a trustee of the Hermann Sons. He was a 50+ Year Member of: American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Hermann Sons, St Paul Lutheran Church and Quihi Gun Club Viewing will be: Friday, January 14, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Guinn-Horger Funeral Home, Hondo, Texas Service will be: Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 10:00 am St Paul Lutheran Church. Pall bearers are to be: Trey Keene, Eric Blume, George Bendele, Bill Bendele, Bo Bendele, Henry Hubble, Carl Hubble, and Rocky Hubble. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery following. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a memorial to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
