Ofelia G. Santos, age 90, of Hondo went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Apr. 29, 2011. She was born in Hondo on Nov. 4, 1920, to Celestino and Marciana (Martinez) Gonzales. Mrs. Santos was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose kindness was felt by all those she touched. Her life was a reflection of the love she had for her family and her faith in the Lord. Ofelia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesus M. Santos Sr.; children, Jesus M. "Chuy" Santos, Jr., and Oralia "Lollie" Santos; great-granddaughter, Cassandra Santos; brothers, Lazaro and Tomas Gonzales; and sisters, Celia Ybarra and Maria Gonzales. Survivors are her sons, Henry Santos Sr. and wife Lupe, Freddy Santos and wife Martha, Adolfo Santos and wife Irma, Art Santos and wife Dee, David Santos and wife Laurie, and Bobby Santos and fiancée Bea Cervantes; daughters, Amparo "Patty" Campos, Gloria Campos and husband Efrain, Bea Sanchez and husband James, Margie Benavides and husband Robert, and Lulu Villarreal and husband Ernest; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, May 2, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Guinn-Horger Chapel, with the Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 3, 11 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hondo. Casket bearers are her grandsons, Henry Santos Jr., Albert Santos, Richard Santos, Robert Campos, Cody Santos, Burt Santos, Ryan Santos, and Jonathan Sanchez. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
