Opal Coralee (Flessa) Greathouse, age 88, passed away Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008. Opal was born Dec. 9, 1919, in Yale, OK, the daughter of William Walter and Anna Retta (Taylor) Flessa. A dedicated, wife, mother, and grandmother, she called herself a Domestic Engineer. Her family was her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Josie; and sisters, Lillie Belle Stewart, Beatrice Katherine Gammel, and Doris Helen Clour. Opal is survived by spouse, Urban C. Greathouse; her daughters, Lynda D. Strouhal and husband Oswald of West Columbia, TX, and Janice V. Oefinger and husband Larry L. of Hondo. She is also survived by five granddaughters and 11 great-grandchildren; brother, William W. Flessa Jr. and wife Emma; sisters, Wilma Lee Garret and husband Gene, Velma Gene Bishop, Phylis Nadine Stewart, and Anna Retta Stacey and husband Jim. Graveside service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section, with Pastor David Mayer of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating.
