Oscar Dominguez, age 75, of Hondo passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012. Born Nov. 18, 1936, in Hondo, he was the son of Francisco and Salome (Hernandez) Dominguez. Oscar served with the Army National Guard. He was active in the community, as a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Hondo Volunteer Fire Dept. Having learned under apprenticeship with his father at the City of Hondo Electric Dept., Oscar retired in 1996 as superintendent after serving 41 years with the department. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Edward Dominguez; and siblings, Raul Dominguez, Oralia Arcos and Alicia Arcos. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; daughter Theresa Ytuarte and husband Jose A. "Porky" Ytuarte; sons, Oscar H. Dominguez and wife Amy and Spencer A. Dominguez, all of Hondo and Felix Dominguez and wife Becky, of San Diego, CA; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Hortencia Villa and husband Gregorio, Edilia Rodriguez, all of Hondo, and Mary Ester Gonzales and husband Ignacio of Devine. Visitation was at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home from 6 pm until 8 pm with a Rosary recited at 7 pm Tuesday July 17. The Funeral Mass was at 10 am Wednesday July 18, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Pallbearers were Garrett Dominguez, Alberto Salazar, Randy Gonzales, Oscar Arcos, David Ytuarte, and Eddie Ytuarte. Burial was in the Guadalupe Section of the Hondo Cemetery.
