Pablo Castillo of Hondo, 92, passed away Saturday, Mar. 17, 2018. Born June 30, 1925, in Hondo, he was the son of Esteban Angel Castillo and Ricarda Gonzales Castillo. A U.S. Army veteran, Pablo served in Korea and was discharged in 1954 as a corporal. Working at a trade he loved, he retired at the age of 82 as a body and paint technician. A loving and devoted family man, Pablo was also a positive influence on many other young lives, guiding them in right directions while teaching them his trade. According to one of his trainees, "The things I learned from Paul went way past a body and paint trade. He taught me about life and how to navigate my way thru it at a time when I could have easily gone in the wrong direction... He was a Great Man and, more importantly, he was My Friend." Pablo is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eufrasio Castillo, Sr.; and sister, Carmen Castillo. He is survived by his wife, Carolina Santos Castillo; daughters, Melissa (Tomas) Padron of Hondo and Marisol Castillo of San Antonio; grandson, Carlos Manuel Padron of Hondo; and nieces and nephews, Eufrasio Castillo Jr., Delfina Dillanger, Esmeralda Castillo, Cipriano Castillo, Esther Romo, Olga Figueroa and Sofie Alvarez. Visitation will be Tuesday, Mar. 20, 6 to 8 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel.
