Patricia Zapata Sanchez, age 56, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014. Born in San Antonio, March 25, 1958, she was the daughter of Petronilio and Angelita Seelig Zapata. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she had a big heart and loved to bake and to spend time with her grandchildren. Patricia was preceded in death by her father; an infant son, Jesse Sanchez Jr.; and brothers, Valentine Zapata and Johnny Zapata. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Jesse Sanchez of Hondo; daughter, Mary (Albert) Zulaica of Devine; sons, Jesus Sanchez and Ricky (Mary Jane) Sanchez, all of Hondo; 14 grandchildren; brothers, Jesse (Dora) Zapata of Natalia, Robert Zapata of Wisconsin, Alejandro "Alex" Zapata of Natalia; and sisters, Hopi (Rudy) Curiel of Natalia and Estella (Tommy) Bowen of San Antonio. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 28, 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be Monday, Dec. 29, 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
