Paul Oscar Bendele, age 99, of Hondo, passed away February 11, 2004. He was born on October 2, 1904, in Dunley, Texas, to Armin & Emilie (Leinweber) Bendele. Paul was a retired farmer & rancher. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Marie Theresa (Koch) Bendele; brother: Ernest A. Bendele, Armin H. Bendele, II, Oscar W. Bendele, Walter A. Bendele; sister: Ethel E. Nester. He is survived by his daughter: Mary Louise Lutz and husband Elton of Hondo; sister: Thelma S. Koch of Round Rock; sister-in-laws: Lorene Bendele of Hondo, Dorothy Bendele of Castroville; grandchildren: Linda Fillinger of Hondo, Nancy Beck and husband Wesley T. of Hondo, Gail Harris and husband Joe of Austin, Betty Housman of San Antonio, James Lutz and wife Laurie of Pipe Creek, and great grandchildren: Michael Beck and wife Kim, Todd Beck, Ryan Fillinger, Nathan Fillinger, Adam Harris, Gracen Harris, Charles Harris, Michael Harris, Justin Housman, Ethan Lutz, Cassie Lutz. The Vistation is scheduled for Friday, February 13, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home in Hondo and the Rosary will be at 9:30 am Saturday, February 14, and the Funeral Mass will follow, at 10:00 a.m., at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with entombment following at the Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Mausoleum. The pallbearers were: Ryan Fillinger, Nathan Fillinger, Justin Housman, Adam Harris, Ethan Lutz, Todd Beck, Michael Beck.
