Pedro R. Alcozer, age 94, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas.
He was born in San Pedro, Coahuila, Mexico, May 14, 1927, to Pablo Alcozer and Cresencia Robles Alcozer.
Pedro enlisted into the United States Army in 1945. He married his beautiful wife Maria on January 20, 1945, and, shortly after, they started to raise a family. He continued his service in the National Guard until 1956. A proud World War II veteran, he loved and enjoyed being able to serve his country.
In the late 1950s, he changed occupation and started to manage a Texaco gas station in Hondo, and in the mid-1960s became owner of the Alcozer Phillips 66 gas station in Hondo. From 1965-67 he was a member of the TSG Reserve Corps and served as a Master Sergeant for the Hondo Security Unit Military Police. In 1967 he began working at Gary Aerospace Corp for several years. He decided to move his family to San Antonio in 1969 and had currently resided there.
Pedro was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He lived his life to the fullest, and lived a very good life. He was a giver and would always lend a helping hand. He loved spending time with his family at weekly gatherings and especially on holidays. He always enjoyed seeing his family together, making memories. Throughout his life, he was a hard worker and, after he retired, he continued to keep himself busy. He would take on projects and you could always find him doing yard work.
He will be remembered for having a heart of gold, his entertaining stories, his amazing work ethic, his generous smile, and his willingness to give. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maria M. Alcozer; children, Pedro J., Robert, Oscar and Irma Alcozer; sister, Guadalupe Alcozer; brother, Jose A. Alcozer Sr.; nephews, Jose Jr. and Antonio Alcozer; daughter-in-law, Josie Alcozer; son-in-law, David Higle Jr.; and sisters-in-law, Petra and Alicia Alcozer.
He is survived by daughters, Ermila Higle, Estella Lomas (Jose) and Rosie Galvan (Benny); sons, Johnny Alcozer (Mari), Robert Alcozer (Tina), Pablo Alcozer and Tony Alcozer; brother, Antonio Alcozer; 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother, Antonio Alcozer; and nephews and nieces.
Visitation at Guinn-Horger Chapel will be Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. and will pause for recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be Thursday, Jan. 27, 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
Pallbearers are Johnny, Robert, Pablo and Tony Alcozer, Mark Galvan and Michael Lomas.
