Pedro Sarabia, age 78, of Yancey passed away Friday, Oct. 17, 2008. He was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Yancey, the son of Andres and Dolores (Salazar) Sarabia. He was a barber. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maria R. Sarabia; sister, Antonia Sarabia; brothers, Domitillo and Francisco Sarabia; granddaughter, Debra Rodriguez; and son-in-law, Francisco Pedroza. Pedro is survived by his daughters, Margarita Lacy and spouse Richard Black of Rocky Ford CO, Celia Pedroza and Elisa Tovar and husband Guadalupe, all of San Antonio, Erlinda Guerrero and husband Jose of Yancey; and son, Rafail Sarabia and wife Antoinette of Queen Creek AZ. Rosary was recited Sunday at Guinn-Horger Chapel and Funeral Mass was held Monday, Oct. 20, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Yancey, followed by interment at Yancey Cemetery. Fr. Wallis J. Stiles officiated. Pallbearers were Mario Hernandez, Guadalupe Tovar, Joseph Pedroza, Cynthia G. Aguilar, Henry Tovar, Leslie Lacy and Juan Manrique.
