Obituary

Peggy Alice Reuthinger Hardt, age 71 years, 3 months, and 2 days, of Hondo, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home in Hondo, Texas, on Friday, March 4, 2005. She was born in Laredo, on December 2, 1933, the daughter of Steve Louis & Tiny (Secrest) Reuthinger. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved husband of 48 years Lloyd E. Hardt. Peggy is survived by her daughter Brenda Sue Groff and husband Mike of Hondo; sons Anthony Lloyd Hardt and wife Maria of San Antonio, Timothy Steve Hardt and wife Valeria of Castroville; grandchildren Erin Hardt, Carly Hardt, Kara Groff, and Robby Groff, all of Hondo, Jonathan Hardt, Steven Hardt, and Emily Hardt of Castroville, and Chelsea Hardt of San Antonio, step-grandchildren Chris Hassan and D. J. Britsch of San Antonio, Dustin Hassan of Hondo; sisters Jaque Higgs and husband Willie of San Marcos, Mary Jane Hamlin and husband Allen of San Marcos; brothers Steve Reuthinger, Jr. and wife LaVada of San Antonio, William Reuthinger and wife Tommy of Sachse. She is also survived by brother-in-law and dear companion, Calvin "Pete" Hardt of Port Lavaca and sister-in-law Ruth Koehler and husband Bill of Austin. Peggy was a precious, loving mother and grandmother and was considered a special lady by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was very active in the First United Methodist Church including many years as kitchen co-ordinator. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jonathan Hardt, Steven Hardt, and Robby Groff, brother-in-law Pete Hardt, and very special friends, Glenn Bragg and Pastor David Mayer. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the caring doctors and staff at the Cancer Therapy Research Center in San Antonio. The Visitation is from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday, March 7, at St. Guinn-Horger Funeral Home and the Funeral Service is at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 8, at the First United Methodist Church of Hondo with Rev. Beverly Burke officiating. The burial will follow at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. The family suggests that instead of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Hondo Scholarship Fund of the Cancer Therapy Research Center (CTRC) in San Antonio, Texas.
